A murder suspect in the death of Pop Smoke has confessed to fatally shooting the rapper during a home invasion in 2020.

The Los Angeles Times reports an 18-year-old recently admitted to first-degree murder, as well as charges including discharging a firearm and home invasion robbery. The suspect is expected to stay in a juvenile facility until he’s 25 years old. His identity has been concealed, as he was only 15 at the time of Pop’s death.

Pop Smoke, born Bashar Barakah Jackson, was killed in February 2020 while on a four-day trip to LA. His rental home in Hollywood Hills was invaded, and he was robbed, attacked and shot in the back three times.

Last month, an accomplice, who was 17 at the time, pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and home invasion robbery, and was sentenced to four years and two months in a juvenile facility. Two others were also charged, but only one of them in adult court: Corey Walker was 19 at the time of the fatal incident.
