During an appearance on ESPN’s SportsCenter, Lil Wayne revealed the cover art and release date for his highly anticipated album, Tha Carter V.
Similar to his previous Carter covers, the artwork features a childhood photo of himself with tattoos superimposed on his face. He stands next to his mother, Cita, who he says was unaware that her photo was being used for the cover.
“I’m sorry moms,” he said on the show. “I know personally that she don’t really like that picture of herself ’cause she’s not looking in the camera.”
So what made him decide to use the photo? “It’s perfect. I always go with a baby picture and I wanted to go with one with my mom on it this time,” he explained.
“This album means a lot to me,” he added. “People been waiting on this album and I’m just at the point in my life and stuff to have my mom on there. It’s more than an accomplishment, it’s an achievement.”
Tha Carter V will arrive on October 28.
