Ray J pleaded not guilty Tuesday to charges of groping a woman and resisting arrest, the New York Daily News reported. The 33-year-old actor-singer was charged last month following a May 30 incident at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, California.
Ray J — whose birth name is William Ray Norwood Jr., the brother of singer and actress Brandy Norwood — was accused of brushing up against a woman’s backside at the hotel bar. Officers initially let him leave after the touching was determined to be accidental, but Ray J was busted a short time later after allegedly becoming belligerent with hotel staff and spitting on officers. Police said he kicked out a cop car’s window after he was cuffed and put in the back of the cruiser. Ray J told TMZ he kicked out the window in a panic because he became “claustrophobic.” He’s due back in court on August 28.
Ray J appears as a cast member of VH1’s upcoming reality show Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood.
