Iggy Azalea Leads Hot 100 For Fifth Week with “Fancy”

by

ABC/Randy HolmesIggy Azalea remains atop the Billboard Hot 100 chart with her infectious single “Fancy,” featuring Charli XCX.

It’s the song’s fifth consecutive week at number one.  She also holds the number two slot as a featured act on Ariana Grande‘s “Problem.” By maintaining both positions, Iggy has tied with Ashanti for the longest consecutive run by a female holding down the top two slots on the chart, Billboard reports.

She also ties runs by male stars Pharrell Williams — who enjoyed a five-week run on the top two slots last year when he was featured on Robin Thicke‘s “Blurred Lines” and Daft Punk‘s “Get Lucky”– and T.I., who held both slots for five weeks in 2008 with “Whatever You Like” and  “Live Your Life” featuring Rihanna

Iggy will have have to hold on for quite a few more weeks to get close to the all-time record, however.  Outkast dominated the chart for eight straight weeks in 2003-04 with “Hey Ya!” and “The Way You Move” featuring Sleepy Brown, but The Beatles hold the all-time record with 10 weeks in a row occupying the top two slots, a feat they pulled off in 1964.

The rapper expressed her gratitude via Twitter. “FANCY..5 weeks at #1 and #2 in the USA.Thank you guys. Amazingxo,” wrote Iggy on Wednesday.

“Fancy” is lifted from Iggy’s latest album, The New Classic.
