Ice Cube to Reunite N.W.A. at BET Experience

by

ABC/Randy HolmesFor the first time in 15 years, Ice Cube has announced plans to reunite N.W.A. for a special performance at the BET Experience.

The rapper will join two of the group’s surviving members, MC Ren and DJ Yella, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on June 27. Concertgoers can expect the trio to perform hits from N.W.A.’s groundbreaking debut, Straight Outta Compton.

“It’s just gonna be a great night,” Cube tells Rolling Stone. “We’re gonna be there with Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q. It’s just gonna be one of those ‘I wish I were there in L.A. nights.’ And we’re gonna rock that s**t, no problem.” Ice adds, “We’re gonna bring back some memories up in there for sure.”

Cube seemed unsure on whether or not Dr. Dre will join the reunion. “If you wish upon a star, you never know. You never know. It’s like, I hope he blesses us with his presence,” says Cube. “But if not, I’ve been rockin’ for a long time without anybody. So whoever shows up, I’m still gonna rock. Whoever don’t show up, we still gonna rock.”

The reunion performance will take place a few weeks before the N.W.A biopic Straight Outta Compton hits theaters on August 14.
