According to MaylayMailOnline, the Gary, Indiana rapper was arrested on June 2nd in the French city of Toulose after being accused of rape in Austria last year. A hearing on the alleged crime was scheduled to take place yesterday, June 7th, but has now been delayed to June 16th.
The rapper plans to fight his extradition to Austria . Gibbs’ lawyer, Michael Malka, told a hearing yesterday, “Freddie Gibbs has indicated to the court that he would not be willing to be handed over to Austrian authorities without exercising his rights to a defense.”
The lawyer continued, “He categorically denies the accusations made against him in Austria. He is even very surprised that Austria could act on this a year later, while he was on tour in Europe.”
Gibbs’ was detained under a European arrest warrant prior to performing at the Rex concert venue in Tulouse. Malka is seeking bail for the rapper.
