Frank Ocean clearly prefers his stage name over his birth name.
The singer, whose birth name is Christopher Edwin Breaux, has filed documents to legally change his name to Frank Ocean, TMZ reports. His next step is to post a notice in a local newspaper for four weeks, stating his intention to change his name.
While Frank sorts that out, he’ll have to contend with a lawsuit brought against him by Chipotle Mexican Grill. According to TMZ, the restaurant chain claims Frank backed out of a $425,000 agreement to record a cover of the Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory song “Pure Imagination” for an animated commercial. Allegedly, he objected to the appearance of the Chipotle logo at the end of the ad.
Chipotle seeks the $212,500 advance it gave Frank to record the song, which was ultimately covered by Fiona Apple instead.
