After reaching platinum status with his debut album, Fetty Wap is explaining the strategy behind his impressive music career, which includes two Grammy nominations and a number-two hits onBillboard’s Hot 100.
The rapper tells Forbes that he modelled his success after actor Adam Sandler.
“One of my favorite actors is Adam Sandler. Since Happy Gilmore he’s been running with the same crew and always has the same people in his movies,” Fetty said. “I base my crew off that. No matter how big I get, I don’t need any new people around me. They may not be the Adam Sandler but when you see me you see them. Money can’t change that.”
The rapper adds that he’s keeping his circle tight. “Nothing but making great music and continuing to put my team on. It’s really up to you if you choose to let fame change you,” said Fetty, who is working on his next studio album. “Fame will never change me because the struggles I rap about are real life, not just for the fame. The ones I came up with, are right here in the next room.”
Meanwhile, Fetty headlining his Welcome to the Zoo Tour, which is opened by longtime friend and Remy Boyz’ own Monty.
