Following a tremendous 2014, August Alsina might be satisfied resting on his laurels, but the singer tells ABC News Radio that he has big ambitions when it comes to his sophomore album, which he says will top any of his previous material.
“I’m never satisfied. I always want more, you know, because a lot of people get complacent and they get comfortable and for me it’s not an ungrateful thing — because I’m very, very, very grateful to have the opportunity — but I’m just never satisfied,” he says. “I always want more and it might seem a bit greedy but I don’t think that’s what it is for me.”
He continues, “It’s just that I’ve kicked it with Jay Z, had conversations with Beyonce, people who are the quote unquote king and queen. So, I’m working to do the same damn thing. I just don’t want be up under that. It’s going to take me a while to get there, but I’m working towards it. I’m not comfortable with being in this place.”
August’s upcoming album will serve as the follow-up to his debut album, Testimony, which spawned the hit single “I Love This.”
