Since playing “1st Time Around” on Street Swagg Sunday listeners have been anxious to get to know Ashley, I’ve known her for the past 4 years and I’m so excited for you to get to know her as well, introducing Ashley Kimbrae:
A product of Dallas, Texas, songstress Ashley Kimbrae started the journey toward her professional music career at the age of 15, where she began embracing her talent by singing in the youth choir. Later, she boldly made a statement with her sultry musical skills by performing live in high school in front of her critical peers only to receive countless accolades, which reaffirmed her talent. Ashley, has always been completely dedicated to reaching her dream of becoming a prominent and renowned R&B artist. She realized early, a beautiful face was great but an educated woman was powerful! Therefore, she chose to attend Sam Houston State University, earning her bachelor’s degree in marketing. As a student, she continued to work on developing as a singer, by strengthening her voice through vocal training and performing at various events and being featured on numerous songs by southern artists. Ashley took her career a step further by interning at Music World Entertainment, where she gained invaluable knowledge of the business side of the music industry.
Her first single, “Drop 64,” which was released in the fall of 2010 was a southern smash, earning play on major radio stations throughout Texas and Louisiana. The success of “Drop 64″ also earned her the title “Dallas’ new First Lady of R&B” by Ozone Magazine. The video was featured on MTV, as well as several popular music websites. Ashley’s charming personality has earned her numerous invites to co-host the “DeDe In The Morning Show” and “Ki Ki J’s Street Swag Sunday” on K104FM, Dallas’ leading major market urban contemporary station. In addition to music, Ashley Kimbrae has been featured in three nationally distributed issues of “Sophisticate’s Black Hair Magazine.” As talented as she is beautiful, Ashley Kimbrae is a former contestant on CW’s “The Next: Fame is at Your Doorstep”, where she made it to the national Semi- finals. Each week, her performances received amazing reviews from a panel of industry heavy hitters, such as Nelly, Joe Jonas, Gloria Estefan and John Rich.
Ashley Kimbrae is focused on evolving as an entertainer through continued vocal and song writing development. She recently performed at the legendary Sounds of Brazil (SOB’s) in New York City as part of BET Music Matters. Shortly thereafter, she visited BET and owned the 106 & Park stage with label-mates The Rap Pack. Ashley’s first EP is set to debut this spring. She is already making waves with her single, “1st Time Around” which is being supported heavily throughout the south. God-given talent combined with her determination, devotion, and love of music will undoubtedly propel Ashley Kimbrae to the forefront of the R&B music scene.
