The Dallas Mavericks got their guy on Thursday night’s NBA Draft. After selecting Oklahoma’s Trae Young with the 5th overall pick, the Mavs shipped Young and a 2019 1st round pick to the Atlanta Hawks for Real Madrid’s Luka Doncic.

The Slovenia born Doncic comes from Spanish powerhouse, Real Madrid, where he earned multiple championships and accolades and has been heralded as one of the greatest European players of this era. Standing at 6-7 / 220 lbs, the multi-skilled guard has spent most of his career at the point, but has shown that he can play off the ball and even some small forward if needed.
Doncic will have great tutelage with Mavs legend, Dirk Nowitzki around and it should be fun to watch him and last year’s first round pick, Dennis Smith Jr. in the backcourt.
The Mavs finished the night with three more picks in the second round adding Jalen Brunson (Villanova/PG) with the 33rd pick (two-time National Champion with Villanova and 2018 National College Player of the Year) and acquiring Ray Spalding (Louisville/PF) and Kostas Antetokounmpo (Dayton/PF, brother of Giannis) via draft night trade with the 76ers.
Do you think Luka will live up to the hype with the Mavs?
