Over the Thanksgiving weekend, the Area round of the Texas High School Playoffs went down and the stars were shining as they advanced to the next round! Congratulations to Chandler Rogers & Adrian Awe of Mansfield Lake Ridge, Jermaine Givens & Quavon Grant of Mesquite Horn, Trejan Bridges & Carson Harris of Hebron, and Donajz Dunn and Sean Simms of South Oak Cliff!
Adrian Awe & Chandler Rogers (Mansfield Lake Ridge) – The Lake Ridge Eagles outlasted Denton Guyer in three OT’s to take the 50-42 win. Chandler Morris threw for 278 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for three touchdowns while Adrian Awe had 18 tackles and two sacks.
Trejan Bridges & Carson Harris (Hebron) – Carson Harris put on a show helping Hebron move past JJ Pearce, 57-35 in the area round. Harris had close to 400 total yards and six total touchdowns tossing two to Trejan Bridges who went over 100 yards receiving.
Jermaine Givens & Quavon Grant (Mesquite Horn) – They started off 0-7, but the Mesquite Horn Jaguars have been a team to be reckoned with in the second season. Jermaine Givens had over 300 yards passing and over 150 yards rushing and four touchdowns with Quavon Grant tallying17 tackles, two pass breakups, and a tackle for loss in the Jags win over Wylie.
Donajz Dunn & Sean Simms (South Oak Cliff) – South Oak Cliff has boasted a powerful defense all season long and have play-makers on the other side of the ball as well. In the undefeated Golden Bears victory over Frisco, Sean Simms finished with four total touchdowns with both of his touchdown passes hitting Donajz Dunn who racked up 107 yards receiving.
