Photo: Francis Specker/CBSWill Smith and Jay Z are continuing their business relationship. After co-producing the Broadway musical Fela, and last year’s movie remake Annie, the two moguls have reportedly joined forces to produce an HBO mini series about Emmett Till.
Entertainment Weekly reports Smith and Jay are executive-producing the untitled miniseries, which will tell the story of Till, a 14-year-old African-American boy from Chicago who was kidnapped, beaten and shot to death in 1955 in Money, Mississippi by two white men for whistling at a white woman. At Till’s funeral, his mother had an open casket to showcase the brutality of her son’s death. The two men responsible were found not guilty of their crimes.
It’s unknown when the miniseries will premiere.
