We’re finally getting a glimpse of the all-star cast in action in the upcoming film, Barbershop: The Next Cut, the third installment in the franchise.
In the movie’s first trailer, Ice Cube, Cedric the Entertainer, Anthony Anderson and Eve return to Calvin’s Barbershop on the South Side of Chicago where they work alongside newbies like Common, Tyga and Nicki Minaj, whose portrayal of a sassy hairdresser named Draya impressed director Malcolm D. Lee.
“Whatever suggestions Cedric and Cube had — whether it was for me or any newcomer to the movie — they were always about making the movie better,” Lee told Entertainment Weekly. “I really appreciated, and I think Nicki did too. She’s a star in her own right. Here she is part of an ensemble, but she fell right in line with how we were going to make this movie and make it as good as we can.”
Barbershop: The Next Cut hits theaters April 15.
