Well, it’s official: Kim Kardashian has landed on the cover of Vogue.
For those not keeping up with Kardashian, she has been on the hunt for Vogue’s stamp of approval for some time, as has her fiance, Kanye West.
Vogue was seemingly uninterested, at least in Kim: they even crudely cut her out of a photo of Kanye West at the Met Gala last year, a move seen to to distance the mag from the reality star.
West pushed back in public, often. “There’s no way Kim Kardashian shouldn’t be on the cover of Vogue,” he told Ryan Seacrest late last year. “She’s like the most intriguing woman right now. She’s got Barbara Walters calling her like every day.”
The result of those efforts: West and Kardashian appear in a bridal embrace on the April cover, with Kardashian’s 15-carat diamond engagement ring in full view. Inside, family photos of the pair and their daughter, North West, appear, taken by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz.
Why the change of heart? The answer is in plain view on the magazine’s cover. Under the Kimye embrace are the hashtag’d words: #WORLDSMOSTTALKEDABOUTCOUPLE. (Social media seems to be a theme of the April issue, with a promised feature on ‘selfie-made’ model-of-the-moment Kate Upton.)
“This is such a dream come true!!! Thank you @VogueMagazine for this cover! O M GGGGGG!!! I can’t even breath (sic)!” tweeted Kardashian on Friday.
A video accompanies the cover release (conveniently set to West’s Bound 2), and we get to check out Kim K in two different wedding dresses (one feathered), plus several cute shots of baby North.
