Vibe will celebrate the 20th anniversary of Nas’ classic 1994 Illmatic album by honoring him during Grammy Week. The veteran rapper will be recognized at the magazine’s second annual Impact Awards on January 24 in Los Angeles. The invitation-only event will be held at a secret location.
Vibe Editor-In-Chief Jermaine Hall calls Illmatic “arguably hip-hop’s most flawless piece of work.” He says, “Nas’ ability to clearly capture his surroundings in song is a special talent.” Vibe celebrated its 20th anniversary last year by honoring Mary J. Blige at the first Vibe Impact Awards.
