Twitter Reacts to Kendrick Lamar’s BET Cypher Freestyle

by Lamar has mastered saying just the right things in his lyrics to cause an uproar on social media. In August, the Compton rapper drove the hip-hop community into a frenzy with his unforgiving verse in Big Sean‘s “Control,” and now he’s become a trending topic on Twitter after a  15-second video snippet of Kendrick’s upcoming BET Cypher freestyle leaked online.

In the brief clip, which will soon premiere during the BET Hip-Hop Awards later this month, the rapper takes aim at Drake by taking lyrical jabs at the Canadian rapper’s emo-raps.

“Yeah… and nothing’s been the same since they dropped ‘Control’/ And tucked a sensitive rapper back in his pajama clothes/ Ha-ha jokes on you, high-five… I’m bulletproof/ Your sh**s a never penetrate, pin the tail on the donkey boy you been a fake…,” Lamar spits.

While Drizzy has yet to respond, fans have chimed in with their opinions on the diss.  Many of the Twitter reactions find that Kendrick’s repeated diss against Drake is unwarranted.  On person wrote, “Drake gave Kendrick that shine on Take Care, gave him the female market with ‘Poetic Justice’.  This is the thanks he gets?”  While another added, “The irony of what Kendrick said is that literally EVERYTHING as far as the rap pecking order is still exactly the same as it was b4 control.”

It also seems that this beef will eventually fade away as long as Drizzy doesn’t retaliate on wax.  One tweeted, “Drake doesn’t need to respond…like at all.  Drake isn’t playing in the same playground as Kendrick.”  Another wrote, “No matter how DOPE Kendrick is, he and Drake aren’t in the same position.  Drake naming him makes him a household name.  Calculate responses.”

One joked that the Toronto native is probably unphased, commenting, “Drake just sipping his red wine, rubbing the feet of a fatherless stripper, and laughing at Kendrick.”

Meanwhile, fans will be able to hear Kendrick’s complete freestyle when The BET Hip-Hop Awards air October 15 at 8 p.m. ET.
