Tupac Shakur’s mom has filed a lawsuit on behalf of her late son’s estate seeking $1.1 million in unpaid royalties from the rapper’s posthumous album, according to TMZ.com.
Afeni Shakur, a co-administrator of the estate, claims in court papers that Entertainment One — the company that purchased the rights to the rapper’s music in July -– breached a contract to pay royalties on the 2007 album Beginnings: The Lost Tapes.
According to the report, Afeni Shakur is also demanding that Entertainment One hand over all of Tupac’s unreleased music.
The 25-year old rapper was gunned down during a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas in September 1996.
Just last week, Deadline.com reported that the long-discussed Tupac Shakur movie was finally moving forward. The producers are hoping to start shooting the film in February with a $45 million budget.
