The duo consisting of Salt — Cheryl James — and Pepa — Sandy Denton — will join previously announced honorees Queen Latifah and Missy Elliott.
The ladies from New York City are celebrating the 30th anniversary of their 1986 debut album, Hot, Cool & Vicious. They made history with that album as the first female rap group to have an album certified platinum. Salt-N-Pepa reached the height of their success in 1993 with their five-times platinum album, Very Necessary, featuring their hits “Shoop” and “Whatta Man” with En Vogue.
VH1 Hip-Hop Honors: All Hail the Queens will air Monday, July 11 at 9 p.m. ET live from New York.
