Timbaland has been tapped to contribute to the Fox pilot, Empire, which is being developed by The Butler director Lee Daniels.
Variety reports that the Grammy Award-winning producer will write and produce the music for the family drama that is centered around the hip-hop industry. The upcoming project stars Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson, and the pilot will mark Daniels TV directing debut.
Timbaland not only worked on four of the biggest albums of 2013 — including Jay Z‘s Magna Carta Holy Grail and Justin Timberlake‘s The 20/20 Experience Part I — but he’s previously contributed to various film soundtracks including Drumline, You Got Served, Bad Boys II and Shark Tale, among others.
In other news, the producer is also working on his fourth studio album, Textbook Timbo, as well as Jodeci‘s comeback album.
