Around the beginning of this millennium, Dallas had arguably the most buzzed about act in all of hip-hop in DSR. After establishing a stranglehold on the DFW, the Dirty South Ryda empire would spread like wildfire across the south and eventually reverberated all the way out to Calfornia where the whole T-Town Music label landed a recording contract with Universal/Motown. Although the crew didn’t end up resonating nationally the way their peers at the time in Houston did (Paul Wall, Chamillionaire, Slim Thug), DSR provided the Dallas hip-hop community with a sense of identity that had never before been seen, and hasn’t since. Take a trip down memory lane with the Slim Thug assisted “Tussle” and let us never forget Big Tuck, Tum Tum, Fat B, Lil Ronnie, Double T, Addiction and Big Tite.
