Mashable has obtained a copy of a suit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on Monday accusing Brown, singer Pia Mia Perez and the owners of the 1 Oak nightclub of negligence in connection with a pre-MTV Video Music Awards party at the club in 2014, at which Knight was shot.
Brown and Pia Mia were hosts of the event but were not involved in the shooting.
“Chris Brown and Pia Mia Perez had a personal obligation to ensure security was adequate and that all attending the event were screened for and not carrying weapons and firearms,” the suit claims.
The suit also describes Brown as “a known gang associate with a history of violence” with “a well-documented track record of hosting events and or parties in which violence frequently erupted.”
Knight is seeking unspecified damages and payment of his legal and medical bills.
