Fulton CountyScarface was arrested for unpaid child support following the taping of the 2015 BET Hip Hop Awards last Friday in Atlanta. He was released from jail Friday and now the rapper has issued a statement regarding the incident.
“First and foremost I would like to thank my supporters for their concern during my recent arrest in Atlanta. While we have resolved the issue I would like to correct some misinformation,” Scarface says in the statement. “The amount reported that was owed is inaccurate and I had no knowledge about there being an arrest order for me as I have traveled to Atlanta many times; with the latest trip being in September to perform at the One Music Festival.”
While he did not specify the amount he owed his child’s mother, the rapper is ready to move forward. “Due to the nature of the case [having a minor child involved], I will make no further comment at this time,” he adds.
The rapper’s arrest occurred shortly after he accepted the prestigious “I Am Hip Hop Award” at the Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center.
