Scandal’s Joe Morton the Subject of Unsung Hollywood New Season Premiere

Joe Morton in “Scandal”; ABC/Ron TomScandal actor Joe Morton will be the subject of the premiere episode of the the new season of TV One’s award-winning biographical series Unsung Hollywood this week.

Co-stars and friends such as Kerry Washington, Debbie Allen, Scott Foley, Tony Goldwyn, Jasmine Guy and John Sayles help Morton tell his Unsung story.

Known for lifting the curtain of Black Hollywood and revealing the lives behind the legends and icons of film and television, Unsung: Hollywood has previously featured the untold stories of Pam Grier, Red Foxx, Dick Gregory, Vivica A. Fox the cast of What’s Happening, among others.

Though he’s now known as one of the most familiar faces on primetime, thanks most recently to his role on ABC’s Scandal, Joe Morton’s career dates back to the 1970s, with star turns in critically acclaimed Broadway productions of Hair and Raisin.  His movie career includes 1984’s Brother from Another Planet, and the action films Terminator 2: Judgment Day and Speed.  He’s been in featured roles on TV series like Grady, Equal Justice, A Different World and SyFY’s Eureka. He’s even done three soap operas, including Search for Tomorrow, Another World and All My Children.

Morton garnered an Emmy Award in 2014 for his role as Rowan Pope, the diabolical manipulating father of Olivia Pope, on Scandal.  Just last month, he was promoted to series regular on the Shonda Rhimes-created drama.

Unsung Hollywood airs Wednesday, March 9 at 8 p.m. ET.
