Rihanna will be the recipient of a coveted award during BET’s Black Girls Rock 2016, taking place Friday, April 1 at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark, New Jersey.
The singer, who will be given the Rock Star Award, took to Instagram to express her gratitude. “Thank you @BlackGirlsRock for this years’ Rock Star Award!! #BlackGirlsRockBET,” she wrote.
The singer joins a slew of famous faces being recognized, including Gladys Knight, who will receive the Living Legend Award. Also being honored are TV mogul Shonda Rhimes, The Walking Dead actress Danai Gurira, actress and activist Amandla Stenberg, and Black Lives Matter founder Patrisse Cullors, among others.
Hosted by Tracee Ellis Ross, the ceremony will air Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at 8 p.m. ET on BET.
