While a who’s who of Hollywood glamour was on hand in New York City Monday night for the 2014 Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards (CFDA) Awards, it was Rihanna who stunned on the red carpet, thanks to her crystal-studded, see-through Adam Selman gown.
The recording artist was on hand to accept the Fashion Icon of the Year award at the event that’s sometimes referred to as the “Oscars of fashion.”
Solange Knowles, and Oscar winners Lupita Nyong’o and Jennifer Hudson were among the stars who assembled at New York City’s Alice Tully Hall, at which Vogue‘s Anna Wintour presented RiRi with her honor.
“I can compensate for all of my weaknesses with fashion,” Rihanna said during her acceptance speech, according to Billboard. The singer called fashion her “defense mechanism.” Rihanna also told the audience that “fashion should never be frustrating, it should be fun.”
