Last week, Lifetime announced Angela Bassett will direct an original movie centered around Whitney Houston, which is scheduled for a 2015 premiere. Now, the late singer’s family reportedly is expressing their disappointment over the upcoming biopic.

According to TMZ, the family feels the legendary singer is too big for the small screen. “Whitney is certainly worthy of more than a television movie. If Whitney were here today, this would not be happening,” Pat Houston tells the site.

Sources tell TMZ that the family is considering a lawsuit to block production and they’ve made it clear that they did not support the project. In addition, the estate is planning to release a big screen film similar to Michael Jackson‘s documentary/concert movie This is It.

Meanwhile, Lifetime has revealed that its film, tentatively titled Whitney Houston, will chronicle the singer’s tumultuous marriage to Bobby Brown, beginning from their early courtship to their divorce.
