Columbia RecordsPharrell Williams has debuted the visually stunning video for his song, “Freedom,” on YouTube.
In the clip, Pharrell sings and dances in various locations across the globe. The powerful shots juxtapose freedom-stifling situations, like people working in a sweatshop, with scenes of natural wonder and carefree abandon, like horses running in a field or two women ditching their clothes on a mountainside.
The video also includes a shot of the 1989 protests in China’s Tiananmen Square recreated with Legos.
Pharrell initially premiered the piano-driven song with a performance at Glastonbury on June 27. He officially released the tune on June 30.
