Nicki Minaj enjoyed re-teaming with Usher for his latest single, “She Came to Give It to You”. The rapper explains that she was excited to finally use a previously written, but never-before-used verse on the Pharrell-produced track.
“It was a verse that I had already written and I didn’t get to put it out on an artist’s album,” Nicki say in an interview with MTV News. “And I was so mad because I love this verse. When I heard Usher’s song, the beat matched, the feel and the vibe matched the verse. I changed some things around at the end and I was finally able to put out this verse.”
After collaborating with Usher on 2010’s “Little Freak,” the rapper adds that she was excited to do another feature. “I love this song, by the way, and I love the fact that I got another chance to work with Usher because he’s a legend,” she says. “We actually just shot the video for it and I’m really excited.”
While fans will have to wait for the song’s music video, Nicki and Usher are both performing at the 2014 MTV VMAs on Sunday, August 24.
