ABC/Lou RoccoNicki Minaj is not happy about being shut out from the Video of the Year category for the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards.
Nicki, who scored three nods in separate categories, took to Twitter to express her frustration about being overlooked for her racey “Anaconda” video.
“If I was a different ‘kind’ of artist, Anaconda would be nominated for best choreo and vid of the year as well,” tweeted Nicki. “When the ‘other’ girls drop a video that breaks records and impacts culture they get that nomination.”
Nicki went on to point out that even Ellen DeGeneres loved her video, which set a record with 19.6 million views in 24 hours. “Ellen did her own anaconda video and did the #choreo lol. Remember her doing that kick. Even mtv did a post on the choreo @MTV remember?” Nicki wrote.
The rapper also questioned why her collaborative video with Beyoncé, “Feeling Myself,” was left out of the nominations entirely: “Did Feeling Myself miss the deadline or…?”
However, in the end, Nicki did “thank” the network for the categories she is nominated for, including Best Female Video, Best Hip-Hop Video and Best Collaboration.
Hosted by Miley Cyrus, the 2015 MTV VMAs will air live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, August 30.
