Frazer Harrison/Getty Images via ABCNicki Minaj has set the record straight about her rumored engagement to rapper Meek Mill. On The Ellen DeGeneres Show Thursday, Nicki said the huge diamond she’s been seen sporting on her left hand isn’t actually an engagement ring.
“I have two rings from this boy that likes me,” she explained. “That’s not my engagement ring, though. He said that that’s my second ring and that if I get a third ring that that would be the engagement ring.”
But does Nicki want that third ring? “I don’t know. We’re still figuring each other out,” she said. “And, in fact, I don’t even want to say I’m in a relationship anymore. I think when people hear that they go to, like, the mean place.”
Meaning what? Nicki said that on Valentine’s Day, people were speculating that she and Meek had broken up simply because she didn’t post any photos on Instagram. In fact, Nicki said the two were “in bed all day on Valentine’s Day” and that she got “three amazing gifts” from him.
She added, “It just made me realize that no matter how great your life is you can’t even impress people. You just have to do you and make yourself happy.” In order to avoid all speculation, Nicki said she’s rather just say “there’s a boy that likes me” and leave it at that.
Nicki’s latest foray into film, Barbershop: The Next Cut, comes out next Friday, April 15. Meanwhile, her new music video with Bebe Rexha for their collab “No Broken Hearts” debuted Thursday on Cosmopolitan.com.
