(Image Group LA/ABC)Nicki Minaj has found a cast for her scripted comedy series for ABC Family, which follows Minaj’s childhood in the ’90s after moving to the U.S. from Saint James, Trinidad and Tobago.
The rapper, who will executive produce and appear in the show, has announced that Ariana Neal will portray Nicki’s younger self while Selita Ebanks will play the role of Grace, Nicki’s mom. Other cast members include Wesley Jonathan, McCarrie McCausland and Whoopi Goldberg, who will guest star as Nicki’s neighbor, Miss Martha.
Written by Kate Angelo, Nicki will shoot in Queens this winter with director Tim Story.
As previously reported, Minaj is looking forward to her first television project. “This is one of the more unique adventures I’ve ever embarked on,” Minaj said back in September. “I couldn’t be more proud and excited to team up with an amazing group of people to give the world something really special.”
