ABC/Randy HolmesAfter rain and an overflow crowd caused two separate Kanye West concerts to be canceled Sunday, New York City’s mayor want to host a block party for Yeezy.
Mayor Bill De Blasio tweeted Monday, “@kanyewest @kimkardashian Great block parties are planned. @Chirlane [Mayor’s wife] & I can throw one w/ you to benefit NYC kids.” He added the comment, “Does someone have Kanye’s number?”
West was scheduled to headline Sunday during the finale of the three-day Governors Ball Festival in New York, however inclement weather forced all the performances to be canceled. He quickly arranged a pop-up show early Monday morning at Webster Hall in Manhattan which never transpired because 4,000 showed up to a venue that only holds 1,500 people.
Kanye did arrive, however police shut down the concert before it could start and dispersed the crowd due to safety reasons. Kim Kardashian tweeted a photo of the massive crowd filling the streets with the caption, “Last night was crazy! Kanye wished he could have performed last night!!!” She added, “Thank you all for coming out at 2am. Promise he will make up this pop up show…He really tried so hard but it was ultimately out of his control! He has the best fans in the whole world!”
