This year’s ONE Musicfest will feature a line-up of performers ranging from Kendrick Lamar to Jhene Aiko. The event’s founder, J Carter, tells ABC News Radio what concert-goers can anticipate from the upcoming event, which takes place in Atlanta Saturday, September 13.
“I would say expect the unexpected, and don’t be surprised if each artists is joined by some Atlanta greats as well,” Carter says of the fourth annual event, which is expected to attract a crowd of 15,000 people.
The ONE Musicfest will also feature a performance from Nas, who’s celebrating his 20th anniversary of Illmatic. “He’s doing a rendition of Illmatic, but he’s also going to open up his entire portfolio and perform his music all throughout the years,” Carter says.
Carter adds that hip-hop heads will also enjoy a set from Kendrick Lamar. “Kendrick is just an explosive live entertainer and he’s going to have a live band with him as well, so its his stage show we’re definitely looking forward to at ONE Music festival,” he says.
As for Jhene Aiko, Carter says, “I think she fits the bill well, I think her crowd and her audience and fan-base is what ONE Music Fest is. I mean, it’s young, it’s adolescents, it’s an older fan base and you really can’t put it in a box.”
Method Man, Redman, Bilal, Daley and more are also on the bill. For more information, visit ONE Musicfest’s official website.
