After giving fans a 26-song mixtape earlier this year, K. Michelle has announced that she’s ready to record her sophomore album, which will serve as the follow-up to last year’s Rebellious Soul.
In a lengthy Instagram post, the singer shared her excitement about not only recording new music but starting a new chapter in her career.
“Today I start a new journey. Today is the First real day of starting my sophomore album,” she wrote in the caption. “It’s also the first day of the new season of Love and Hip Hop Atlanta. So many emotions this morning when I woke up. Bitter sweet, a little nervous, but just blessed.”
She continued, “Reality TV made some people hate me, love me, but most importantly it made me KNOW ME.”
K. Michelle also reflects on all of her accomplishments thus far. “To come from that to a #1 album, awards, and sold out shows is just a testimony to what God and hardwork can do.” she says. “We all make mistakes, but You all got to watch my mistakes every week for the last 2yrs on TV. You also get to watch my growth.”
After referring to her fans as her “extended family,” she adds that she’s thankful for all of her blessings. “Today I just feel like shouting Look At God!!!!!! Look at how I’m becoming the woman that doubters didn’t want me to be. You gotta keep your head up and fight. When all doors close, climb through a window. Please don’t give up,” she concludes.
Aside from recording her new album, the singer has landed a book deal and she’s filming her spin-off reality show. The series is slated to premiere on VH1 in the late summer or early fall.
