Master P has announced plans to film a biopic, which is being dubbed the “greatest urban trilogy since the Godfather.”
The first installment will be The Ice Cream Man, which is named after his 1996 platinum album. The film will chronicle Master P’s humble upbringing prior to forming No Limit Records in 1990.
TRU, the part two of the trilogy, will focus on how he created one of the most influential groups in hip hop, while the final film, No Limit the Empire, will cover the label’s overall success — at one point, No Limit had more than 18 records on the Billboard 200 chart at one time.
The rapper wrote the upcoming film project with Pardé Bridget and Wayne Conley. His production company, CP3 Filmworks, is currently casting actors to play the younger Master P.
Filming will begin in 2015.
