This week saw the release of Mary J. Blige‘s first-ever Christmas collection, A Mary Christmas, which she describes as a project that will bring up nostalgic childhood memories.
During a sit-down with Grammy.com, the singer explains, “The way I get to the point of making you believe that it’s Christmas is going back to Christmas as a child.” She adds, “Becoming that child again, remembering what was going on when we were decorating the Christmas tree, what song was playing, how it made me feel, and sharing that with everyone.”
MJB worked closely with Grammy Award-winning producer David Foster, saying, “Just watching it organically come to life is just a dream come true, we just came out with the best renditions of the songs we love.”
A Mary Christmas, which includes duets with Barbra Streisand, Jessie J and Marc Anthony, is available now.
