Mariah Carey Trying to Come Up with New Album Title That Reflects Her “Journey”

by

ABC/Donna SvennevikMariah Carey‘s forthcoming new album has had a variety of different release dates over the past two years, and now that one is definite — May 6 — the diva has to tackle the next issue: a title for the disc.

Last year, Mariah announced that her album would be called The Art of Letting Go, and released a song by that name.  But now, that title is off the table, though she hasn’t come up with a new one yet.   “I really need to sit here and think about the journey the album takes you through,” she tells MTV. “Because it is truly a journey, and there’s a lot of different emotions that are very, very real.”

Indeed, a lot has happened in Mariah’s life since her last studio album back in 2009, including the birth of her twins, her judging stint on American Idol and her roles in such movies as Precious and The Butler.  That’s why, she says, she kept on pushing back the disc’s release.

“It was just something where I felt like, ‘I’m not ready,'” Mariah explains to MTV. “I don’t want to throw this [out there] because I have 14 or 15 songs or however many songs. I can say, ‘Here’s your album,’ and there are very personal songs on there, but I wanted it to be a complete journey.”

Mariah, who was a surprise guest Monday night on Jimmy Fallon‘s first evening as host of NBC’s Tonight Show, is currently promoting her romantic new single “You’re Mine (Eternal).”
