Image Courtesy Eric McCandless/CBSBeyoncé has many slashes to her name, but apparently being a songwriter shouldn’t be one of them, according to veteran songwriter Linda Perry, who has penned hits for Christina Aguilera and Pink.

While promoting her new show on VH1, Make or Break, Perry explained during a Reddit AMA session why being called a songwriter shouldn’t be used loosely.

When asked how she feels about Beyonce changing one word in a song and getting a writing credit, Perry gave a candid response.

“Well, hahaha um that’s not songwriting but some of these artists believe if it wasn’t for them your song would never get out there so they take a cut just because they are who they are,” she explained.

Perry adds that “everyone knows the real truth even Beyonce,” who was first called out for claiming to have written her smash hit “Irreplaceable,” which was actually penned by Ne-Yo.

“She is talented but in a completely different way,” Perry concludes.
