Beyonce‘s message in her new “Formation” single and her Super Bowl halftime show may have caused a lot of commotion, but the overall nod to the Black Panthers and Black Lives Matter movement initially went right over Lil Wayne‘s head.

In an interview with ESPN’s SportsCenter, the rapper revealed that he liked the show, but he assumed she was paying tribute to Janet Jackson.

“I enjoyed it,” Weezy said. “I enjoyed everything about it. I just got it mixed up. I thought it was the ‘Rhythm Nation.’ That’s why I was really into it. I was like, ‘Ooh, they came out with the Janet Jackson ‘Rhythm Nation.'”

The rapper adds, “But that just shows you how young I am.”

Wayne also spoke on how his Super Bowl commercial for Apartments.com featuring himself and an actor playing George Washington came together.  “That’s my homie,” Wayne said. “It’s just a great look and I enjoyed every second.”
