Whitney Houston‘s legacy will live on in a new Lifetime original movie directed by Angela Bassett, who starred alongside the late singer in the 1995 film Waiting to Exhale.
According to the network, the movie, tentatively titled Whitney Houston, will chronicle the singer’s tumultuous marriage with Bobby Brown, beginning from their early courtship to their divorce.
“I have such regard for both Whitney’s and Bobby’s amazing talents and accomplishments; and I feel a responsibility in the telling of their story,” said Bassett in a statement. “Their humanity and bond fascinates us all. I’m beyond excited to have this opportunity to go behind the camera and into their world.”
The film is scheduled for a 2015 premiere.
