Lauryn Hill will be among the performers at the first ROCK! LIKE A GIRL concert at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.
The event on April 5, which will also feature a discussion segment, will highlight women’s contributions to hip-hop. Other artists performing include MC Lyte and Grammy Award winning violinist Miri Ben-Ari.
ROCK! LIKE A GIRL is being produced by Beverly Bond, who created Black Girls Rock! She will also serve as the DJ for the event.
“I’m extremely excited to launch ROCK! LIKE A GIRL at the Kennedy Center and curate this dynamic show featuring these superb, inspirational and innovative artists,” Bond says. “This festival illustrates the diversity, creativity and the global cultural capital of hip-hop music.”
The event is in partnership with the Kennedy Center’s One Mic: Hip-Hop Festival.
