Lamar jumped from 82 to number one, fueled by the success of his number one album, To Pimp a Butterfly. The Artist 100 measures popularity based on sales, radio airplay, streaming and social media interaction.
The Compton rapper replaces Taylor Swift, who falls to second place after reigning for 19 weeks at the top of the chart. He also breaks the record she set when she jumped from 69 to number one in September 2014.
Lamar, whose previous high on the chart was number 30, follows Drake as the second rapper to lead the Artist 100 list. Drake is currently number five.
