Unlike some other hip-hop artists, Kendrick Lamar has no beef with Iggy Azalea.
The Compton rapper weighed in on the ongoing backlash that Iggy deals with, especially surrounding her lyrical content and the Amercian accent the Australian native adopts when performing.
“She’s doing her thing,” Lamar tells Billboard. “Let her. People have to go through trials and tribulations to get where they at. Do your thing, continue to rock it, because obviously God wants you here.”
With the Grammys airing next month, Lamar also touched on his good kid, m.A.A.d city losing to Macklemore & Ryan Lewis‘ The Heist last year.
“I appreciate [the Grammys] recognizing me,” Lamar says. “That’s not my overall goal… It’s best to just go and enjoy the festivities.”
Kendrick’s full cover story hits newsstands on Friday, January 9.
