Kendrick Lamar & Big Sean’s Albums Certified Platinum Under New Rules

ABC/Image Group LAThe latest albums from Big Sean and Kendrick Lamar have been certified platinum after the Recording Industry Association of America made a change in its certification process. Starting today, the Association is counting on-demand audio and video streaming, not just sales, as part of its gold and platinum certifications. 

Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp a Butterfly and Big Sean’s Dark Sky Paradise are are just a handful of projects that have earned new certifications including Wale‘s Ambition, which is now is gold; The Weeknd‘s Beauty Behind the Madness, which is now double platinum; and Michael Jackson‘sThriller, which becomes 32-times platinum.
