Kwaku Alston/ESSENCE MagazineKelly Rowland poses next to her newborn son, Titan, and husband, Tim Witherspoon, on the cover of Essence magazine’s April issue. In an accompanying behind-the-scenes interview, the singer reveals that her first child has given her a new perspective on life.
“There’s so many ways Titan has changed my life, but one significant change is just what’s important: genuine love, family, just the realness of that and how pure he is, is just so amazing. It’s such a blessing to have a child,” Kelly gushes.
The singer adds that her son can melt her heart with just one smile. “All he has to do is smile for me and my world is wonderful,” Rowland says. “It really blows my mind, I had no idea how much you just love somebody so much, you can just eat him. He’s just so awesome.”
Although she’s graced previous covers for the publication, Kelly explains why this one hits close to home.
“I’m really excited about this Essence cover, I unfortunately lost my mom [at] the end of the year, but one of the things I found amongst her things around her Bible was her subscription to Essence,” Kelly says. “So I know she’s going to be smiling so big once she sees this cover, with myself and Titan, she’s just going to be super proud.”
