Kelly Rowland has good news. The singer has begun recording the follow-up to last year’s Talk a Good Game, which she says will sound different from anything she’s ever done.

In an interview with HuffPost Live, the former Destiny’s Child member revealed the status of the project. “A fifth album is coming, I’m in the studio right now, I actually just got started last week. It’s been wonderful so far,” she says.

So what can fans expect? “A fresh, new spin on everything, writers, producers, just being inspired,” Rowland says before discussing the sound of the project.  “I’m thinking different horns, certain drums, these flutes that I heard, I know it sounds crazy but there’s these crazy flutes.”

She also credits her music icons, like Diana Ross, for giving her inspiration for the upcoming set. “I’ve been inspired by the queens before us. You know, incredibly strong women, who aren’t afraid to take risks and just be innovative.”

While giving props, Kelly complimented Beyonce for changing the game with her surprise release. “It was very smart and very well thought out and I applaud her forever for that, it was great.”

In addition, the singer confirmed that she’s departed from her former label of Universal Republic after two albums. “I feel like right now, I just needed something new and I’ve earned the right to make my own choices and make my own decisions,” said Kelly. “I wish them well, they wish me well. No hard feelings, I just needed a fresh, new start.”

Rowland also spoke on her recent engagement and becoming the spokes-model for Caress skin care. The full interview can be viewed via HuffingtonPost.com now.
