R. Kelly has many monikers, ranging from the Pied Piper to the King of R&B. Now, the crooner has come up with a new name for himself, the “Doctor of R&B.”
While it may seem like a step down from “king,” Kelz tells NecoleBitchie.com he’s the “doctor” because he has the cure that’s needed to save R&B music.
“I wouldn’t say [the music] is worse but I would say there [are] a few things, a few elements, that are missing in it,” Kelly says. “And I feel like I’m the ‘Doctor of R&B’ in a way. So I feel like I know just what to do to get it right back up and running the way it’s supposed to be running.”
He adds that the music has “definitely changed” but he’s excited to “get it back to hotness” with his upcoming album, Black Panties, which, he says, “follows the path of R&B” and is dedicated to his female fans.
“I just want all the ladies to love it because I did it for the ladies,” he explains. “And really for the fellas too. Because the fellas are gonna go where the girls are. But I really did it for the ladies, you know? Black panties!”
Black Panties is due out December 10.
