There’s a lot of commotion surrounding Kanye West‘s event at Madison Square Garden this afternoon, which has been described as part listening party for his new album, The Life Of Pablo, and an official unveiling of his Yeezy Season 3 fashion collection. The Editor-in-Chief of VIBE, Datwon Thomas tells ABC Radio that there’s likely going to be plenty of surprises during the sold-out event.
“I totally believe he’s going to bring his collaborators out on stage,” Thomas says, referring to speculation that West might perform some of his new material. “I’ve been to so many Kanye shows, he’s going to bring that same energy and that same creative spite to what he’s doing now.”
Thomas continues that Kanye will also likely get a lot off his chest. “You can tell by the fact that he’s in class Kanye mode right now, you know what I mean, and I think we’re going to get a long speech, we all know what those speeches were like before, like what he did at MTV, and something is going to be a good 15 or 20 minutes,” Thomas says. “I’m putting money down that he’s going to go off on a tangent for that long, but for the most part we’re going to be surprised by a few things I’m sure.” (AUDIO IS ABC 1-ON-1)
Since everyone can’t make the show, which will include a performance by the artist Vanessa Beecroft, Kanye has announced that his show will be “live streamed for all” on Tidal at 4 p.m. ET.
