Kanye West is set ablaze on the front cover of Interview magazine’s February issue and gives a telling interview, which was conducted by 12 Years a Slave director Steve McQueen. Aside from talking about fatherhood and his “Bound 2” video, West also discusses being snubbed in the major categories by the Grammys.
“I’ve been nominated for Best Album maybe three times,” he says. “I made Dark Fantasy and Watch the Throne less than a year apart and neither of them got nominated. ‘Ni**as in Paris’ wasn’t nominated for Best Song either.”
West adds, “Let’s go into the fact that I have the most Grammys of any 36-year-old or 40-year-old or whatever, and I’ve never won a Grammy outside of the Rap or R&B categories.”
Despite not being recognized, ‘Ye says his voice won’t be stifled. “I’m like a broadcaster for futurism,” he says. “For dreamers, for people who believe in themselves.”
The 56th Annual Grammy Awards will air live on Sunday, January 26, at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
